When Did Jesus Rise from the Grave? - Was information technology a Literal three Days?
"Precisely when did Jesus rise from the dead? This will probably come as a shock to many of you lot, just he could conceivably take been raised any time afterward sunset on Saturday night. Remember that the Jews reckoned their days from sunset to dusk. Therefore, what you and I would typically regard as Saturday nighttime was for them Sun. How then can it be said that Jesus was in the grave for three days and three nights? Uninformed critics typically jump on this as a jumbo mistake in the gospels. But according to Jewish reckoning, when it came to determining time, any part of a day was considered past them to be the whole mean solar day. In other words, although Jesus was in the grave only 1 or two hours on Friday, the Jews counted it equally a whole twenty-four hours and night, 24 hours. Thus, Jesus could conceivably have been buried only 26 hours: one hour on Friday, twenty-iv hours on Saturday (the Sabbath), and one hour on Sunday. And yet it could truly be said of him that he was in the grave "3 days and 3 nights." In sum, and so, three days and nights need mean only the combination of any function of iii split days.
